South African actor/director Sello Maake Ka Ncube will immortalise the life of the late Lebo Mathosa in a musical about the highly acclaimed singer.

Ka-Ncube has reopened auditions for the production after the talent that was auditioned on the weekend failed to make the cut when put through their paces at the State Theatre in Pretoria.
The musical is expected to hit the State Theatre in August, nearly six years after the singer was killed in a car accident.
Ka-Ncube told Sunday World he was inspired by other musicals: “It was inspired by ‘Mamma Mia’ [a hit by Swedish pop group Abba] and ‘We Will Rock You’ [Queen] and how their music is kept alive by turning them into musicals.”
He has had to tweak the script so that it’s more like a tribute because of his initial failure to find people capable of singing, dancing and acting.
Mathosa first hit the big time as part of the popular kwaito group Boom Shaka, which also featured Thembi Seete, Junior Sokhela, and Theo Nhlengethwa.
